  1. In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, choose Images > Convert, select the disk image file you want to convert, then click Open.

  2. Click the Image Format pop-up menu, then choose a new image format.

    • Read-only: The disk image can’t be written to, and is quicker to create and open.

    • Compressed: Compresses data, so the disk image is smaller than the original data. The disk image is read-only.

    • Read/write: Allows you to add files to the disk image after it’s created.

    • DVD/CD master: Can be used with third-party apps. It includes a copy of all sectors of the disk image, whether they’re used or not. When you use a master disk image to create other DVDs or CDs, all data is copied exactly.

    • Hybrid image (HFS+/ISO/UDF): This disk image is a combination of disk image formats and can be used with different file system standards, such as HFS, ISO, and UDF.

  3. If you want to change the encryption, click the Encryption pop-up menu, then choose an encryption type.

  4. Enter a new name for the image in the Save As field, click Save, then click Done.

Some CD Images are packed in the ECM file format. This can only be read by programs explicitly designed to deal with ECM files. Luckily, there are tools available that allow you to convert these files into much more usable formats such as ISO or Cue/Bin files. This guide shows you how to use ECM Tools to accomplish this conversion. NOTE:.ecm CD images are not yet supported. If your.bin file has been compressed with ECM, you must use a utility to convert it back to a non-ECM bin file before uploading it to your GCW Zero. ECM strips the useless error-correction information, saving about 5-10% of space, and unfortunately for us is a very popular format.
