Three middle schoolers, Yasaka Kazuki, Kuji Toi and Jinnai Enta encounter Keppi of the Kappa Kingdom. Butt stuff happens, and the three are enlisted to fight kappa zombies. All the episodes from 54 (68 uncut) to 276 (291 uncut) were dubbed by FUNimation, and were broadcasted with that dub on Toonami from 1999 to 2003. Unlike the Ocean dub, the Funimation dub was far less censored due to Saban's absence from the production and retained most of the mature content featured in the Japanese version. Hulu announced that they will stream Gintama on their digital platform. According to the site’s “New This Month” section, the first forty-nine (49) episodes of the title will be offered in subtitled and dubbed formats. The episodes will be presented as the first “Season” of episodes, with TV Tokyo listed as the licensor on the project.
Previously, Gintama hadn’t received an English dub for its first seasons. The show’s third season (Episodes 226 – 278) was released on Blu-Ray in 2018. The release, which was a co-publication between Funimation and Crunchyroll, was dubbed by Ocean Media.
The Gintama manga launched in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2003, and ran through June 20, 2019. The series spans 77 volumes, the last of which will stores on August 2.

Since its debut, the Gintama manga spawned six anime TV series from Sunrise and Bandai Namco Pictures, as well as a pair of live action films.
Chizuru Miyawaki directed the newest anime series at Bandai Namco Pictures, with Shinji Takeuchi (Fairy Tail, Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!) providing character designs. Crunchyroll streamed the show as it aired in Japan. They describe Gintama as:

The latest film, Gintama 2: Okite wa Yaburu Tame ni Koso Aru (Gintama 2: The Laws Are Surely There to Be Broken) opened on August 17. Yūichi Fukuda returned to the director’s chair on the project and, like the first film, wrote the script.
